If you have hyperpigmentation you are not alone, as many people have the same condition. We can help you here at Golden Health & Beauty Center and offer several different treatment options for hyperpigmentation.
What is hyperpigmentation?
It’s a common and typically harmless condition that many patients treat for aesthetic reasons. With this condition, a patient’s skin has patches that are darker in color than the rest of the skin. This darkening is caused by an excess of melanin that forms deposits in the skin.
Melanin is the brown pigment that produces normal skin color. Due to sun damage, hormone fluctuations, or certain other issues, the body may overproduce melanin, and this overproduction can cause hyperpigmentation. The condition can be treated pretty easily!
How do you treat hyperpigmentation?
If you have the condition and you’d like to treat it, there are lots of options, and professional treatments can be very effective. If you’ve tried any over-the-counter treatments and they haven’t worked for you, you may need a professional treatment.
At Golden Health & Beauty Center, we provide several different treatment options, like laser skin resurfacing and many others. Let’s get into these treatments one at a time.
How does laser skin resurfacing help with hyperpigmentation?
With laser skin resurfacing, a harmless laser uses targeted beams of light to reduce hyperpigmentation. The laser destroys certain elements in the skin to help new, healthier skin cells grow, and this new skin may have a lighter tone to it. Laser skin resurfacing is great for patients with fair skin.
How can intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy help with hyperpigmentation?
IPL therapy is another kind of laser treatment. It’s also known as a photofacial! It works by stimulating collagen growth within the dermis of the skin, and this collagen can help minimize the appearance of dark spots. IPL therapy can be used for many pigmentation issues, and it’s especially good for flat spots.
Can microdermabrasion help with hyperpigmentation?
Microdermabrasion can help when the condition affects the epidermis of the skin. The epidermis is the thin, outer layer of the skin that’s visible to the eye. Our med spa provides this treatment too.
What other treatments can help with hyperpigmentation?
Some patients benefit from microneedling for their hyperpigmentation. In fact, microneedling may work especially well for patients with darker skin. Infrared red-light therapy can work for many patients, and so can HydraFacials! The HydraFacial is noninvasive, which is a major benefit for many patients. We provide all of these treatments here at our med spa.
There are lots of options to choose from, but we can help you narrow it down when you come in for a consultation at Golden Health & Beauty Center. During a consultation, we’ll help you determine what your aesthetic and health needs are, and then we’ll suggest the best treatment to meet those needs.
